Directions: On State Highway 1 from Auckland Airport take exit 477 toward Coromandel Peninsular and Tauranga. Keep on State Highway 25, head for Thames and stay on this road along the coast. Preeces Point Road is a left turn 2km before the town, by a 70kph sign.

Studio 1 is a one-bedroom cottage and boasts a fully equipped kitchen, separate bedroom with queen-size bed, a spacious lounge with a pull-out sofa bed, and a bathroom with laundry. Outside, guests for Studio 1 can enjoy a private deck and shared barbecue area and plenty of parking. Optimum occupancy for the studio is for three adults. Prices range from $180-$200 a night depending on season.
Studio 2 has two huge picture windows offering stunning views of the sea, it also has its own driveway and parking. The property offers a spacious lounge/dining sleeping area with queen-size bed and sofa bed, leading to a fully-equipped kitchen and laundry, large bathroom and private outside bath. Outside there is also a private deck and lawn. Optimum occupancy for the studio is for three adults. Prices range from $180-$200 a night depending on season.
In town you will find clothes and gift shops, a 4Square supermarket, garage, bank, fishing shop, hardware shop, three pubs, cafes and two fish and chip shops. There is also Umu and The Pepper Tree restaurants for meals out.
Most people who visit this area also make a point of stopping at Driving Creek Railway, just 3km out of town. It is a a narrow-gauge railway that climbs up into the bush, up to the Eyeful Tower, the vision of reclusive potter Barry Brickell.
Across the peninsular is stunning Cathedral Cove at Hahei, Hot Water Beach on Mercury Bay, 12km from Whitianga, where you can dig holes in the beach and create your own spa pool.
