Matakohe House Bed and Breakfast is located on the Kaipara Harbour, it is only metres from the ever popular Kauri Museum and on the way to the largest Kauri tree standing the giant Tane Mahuta "Lord of the Forest".

The property is surrounded by a large, covered, sun-drenched deck overlooking picturesque blooms and water views.

The B&B has four bedrooms with en-suite, a communal lounge used by house guests which is both functional and comfortable with Sky Tv and a kitchenette where you can help yourself to tea or coffee and a treat.

We are Jackie and Daniel Pucci and we will be your hosts while staying at Matakohe House, we would like your stay to feel like a home away from home.

In September of 2016 we decided to leave city life behind and live in Northland. It has been the best decision we made for our future. We are both from South America, Daniel is from Argentina and I am from Uruguay we have made New Zealand our home for over 13 years. We speak English & Spanish.

Kauri Museum

 

The Kauri Museum is New Zealand's best kept secret that has an element of surprise. The first carboNZero certified museum in the world, The Kauri Museum tells the story of the mighty Kauri tree, its fascinating gum and its pioneering past.

Coates Memorial Church

 

On the 27th of May 1950, the seventh anniversary of J. G. Coates’s death, the memorial church was officially opened.

The Coates Memorial Church is interdenominational and is open to the public.

Tane Mahuta

 

Tane Mahuta is a giant Kauri tree. Its age is unknown but is estimated to be between 1,250 and 2,500 years.

It is the largest kauri known to stand today. Its name means "Lord of the Forest".
