About Southern Lakes, New Zealand

The Southern Lakes area unquestionably takes in some of the premier sights & experiences of New Zealand. It is hard to imagine anything more picture perfect than the sight of the SS Earnslaw steaming out onto Lake Wakatipu from Queenstown against the backdrop of Cecil Peak and the mountains beyond. Are you up for a Bungy Jump? Queenstown is where it all started. There are brilliant jet boating opportunities too, to say nothing of the winter sports opportunities, back country experiences and jaw dropping scenery.

Wanaka is the more relaxed cousin of Queenstown and the trip between the two over the Crown Range is breath taking.

This region is also home to some of the most stunning vineyards and wineries in New Zealand. The Gibbston Valley Pinot Noirs will amaze you.

Stop over in Te Anau then make a day trip to Milford Sound, but be prepared to run out of superlatives – this is just stunning in the sunshine or the wet. Don’t forget your inset repellent though! Another worthwhile trip from Te Anau is a visit to the Manapouri Hydro scheme. It won’t disappoint.

Kickback & de-stress in the idyllic atmosphere. Bask in the magnificent mountain & valley views while chilling out on the deck. Delight in the antics of the many native birds. Or try out the local bar/cafe which is an easy 5 minute walk.

The famous Blue Pools are only 8 km from our property - we are one of the closest.

The Tui Studio offers a kitchenette, ensuite bathroom and private balcony at the edge of the bush. This open plan room has a queen bed & a sofa. Guests can relax on the private deck and enjoy the spectacular mountain views.

The Kea & The Kaka our 2 semidetached ensuite rooms are perfect for a stopover.
The Kea Room offers a queen bed and a single bed, ensuite bathroom with a microwave, toaster & electric jug.
The Kaka Rooms offers a california king bed, ensuite bathroom also with a microwave, toaster & electric jug.
Guests can relax on the shared verandah enjoying the spectacular mountain views.

Located just 5 km from Te Anau on the world famous Milford Sound highway, Loch Vista is ideally positioned for you to explore Milford Sound, Fiordland National Park, and all the area has to offer.
Overlooking Lake Te Anau, the property has stunning views of the Murchison & Kepler Mountains. In fact, it is one of the best lake and mountain views in Te Anau.
Your host, Phil lives in the Villa and is available to provide you with local information and answer any queries.
Loch Vista has 3 rooms, all with queen beds and private en-suites.
All rooms have smart TVs and hairdryers. A fridge is also available for each room .
Two rooms have doors opening onto a patio where you can sit in the native garden, and enjoy the spectacular views and bird life.
A complimentary continental breakfast is provided each morning of your stay.
Phil will endeavour to meet you on arrival at Loch Vista and should you wish, sit and have a chat over a drink while you admire the fantastic view.
The lounge area is available for guests to use and chat, or to read a book about our beautiful country from the small library.
Te Anau township is just a 5 minute drive from Loch Vista where guests can enjoy an evening meal from one of a good array of restaurants.

Just outside Cromwell in beautiful Central Otago, our cottages are set amongst rolling hills, walnut trees and stunning hosta, tussock and woodland gardens. Our boutique, self contained cottages offer true respite from a busy world. Your cares will melt away as soon as you drive in the gate.

Rascal, Moonlight and Celebration Cottages enjoy superior decor and fittings. King size beds, beautiful linen, en suite bathrooms with fantastic water pressure, fully equipped kitchens with Nespresso machine, microwave, cook top and fridge freezer; TV/DVD, DVD library, books, magazines, cosy gas fire, overhead fans and insect screens. Each cottage has a deck, a full size barbecue and carport and fabulous views.
