They balanced their time between NZ and California (USA). Both are passionate about meeting and hosting people. They have six children and twelve grandchildren spread across the globe, and really enjoy travelling abroad whenever they get the chance.

Shami loves cooking. If you are fortunate enough to book an evening meal with Shami, you are in for a gourmet delight served with a glass of their finest wine. Light continental breakfasts are free, but an extra charge applies for cooked. Shami's famous homestyle cooked breakfasts are legendry. Other meals including fine dining can be available on request.

Dave loves a good chat. He knows Rotorua like the back of his hand and works in tourism, so if you are wanting to know the best things to do, he would be more than happy to provide recommendations.

Guests are welcome to enjoy viewing any activities which are happening during their visit but it depends on what’s happening on the day – so it is a bit of a lucky dip really. There could be shearing, lambing and calving, feeding out or maybe simple day to day activities. There are usually pigs/piglets to feed. Glenn would be happy to do a dog run on a few sheep if people wanted to see how the dogs work. Roxy the horse is there for patting and feeding.

Many people enjoy a walk around the farm. There are numerous walks possible from a 2km stroll up to the airstrip to view the mountains and extensive farm land on a clear day. For those looking for more of a challenge there is a 5km walk through the middle of the farm up to the trig. Take a pack with a few treats to enjoy when you reach the top.
Then of course Timber Trail Farmstay is an ideal base to enjoy cycling the Timber Trail.

After your days activities you may like to relax in the outdoor shower or bath and could be treated to the Kereru flying amongst the trees or the calling of the morepork in the evening. Or just enjoy the quietness of rural living.

All building materials used were sourced from recycled demolition bungalows, repurposed antique furniture or old farm equipment. Luxury linen is supplied in the mezzanine bedroom and include towels, organic toiletries plus a heated towel rail and underfloor heating in the bathroom. Breakfasts in the "Rusty Roost " consist of cereal, fresh fruits and yoghurt, as well as juice, bagels, jam, butter, and tea/coffee .
Situated next to a working farm, "The Roost" is surrounded by the sights and sounds of everyday country life, where sheep and cattle pass by over the hills that echo to the melodious sounds of never-ending birdsong. Our beautiful old building opened on Sunday the 30th of January 1916 as home to the sisters of St Joseph. The Covent was sold in 2003 and In 2016 June Nevin purchased the building and has been restoring it to its former glory.

Each room is unique, with high ceilings and a warm atmosphere. June has an extensive art collection which adds to the charm of this beautiful old lady.

As well as a continental breakfast which is included in the Tariff, June offers home cooked meals and packed picnic lunches for an additional charge. We can also arrange private sight seeing trips.

We have 2 spacious and stylish ensuited B&B rooms, both with balconies and wide views. There are tea/ coffee making facilities, a bar fridge and heat pump. A guest lounge is available. Continental and cooked breakfast served. For the cooked breakfast, choose from eggs benedict, the big breakfast (bacon, eggs etc) or pancakes with caramelised banana. Enjoy a coffee from our commercial-grade coffee machine.

The Apartment is 70 m2 and sleeps up to 5 people. There are 2 bedrooms: 1 with a queen bed, the other with 2 singles or a king. In the living/dining area there's a pull-out sofa bed, providing further sleeping options. A cot is also available. The kitchenette is well-equipped, with a single induction cooktop, electric frying pan, rice cooker, microwave, and full-sized fridge. Tea, coffee, milk, sugar and basic condiments for cooking are provided. There is a heat pump in the living area and heaters in the bedrooms. There’s a combined bathroom and laundry. Breakfast is not provided.

The B&B rooms and the Apartment have smart TVs with access to Netflix. There is free WiFi throughout and free parking.

Mountain bike enthusiasts? We provide safe storage and a workshop with a bike stand and tools. We are 5-minutes’ drive to the Redwoods/Whakarewarewa Forest mountain bike park. Dale is happy to take you for a guided ride suited to your level.

BLOSSOM COTTAGE Bed & Breakfast in Rotorua is a self-catering accommodation in vintage-style for families, friends and romantic couples. THE VINTAGE ROOM is a spacious, luxurious accommodation with vintage decor and antique furniture. This guest-suite has views of the garden and countryside. Breakfast provided in the Vintatge Room.

Breakfast takes place downstairs in our family dining room shared by all our guests. It consists of a generous continental and cooked breakfast with homemade muesli, yoghurt, jams and sourdough bread. It is usually a very relaxed and informal time with lively banter and sharing of experiences.

We love to meet and get to know people but also appreciate travelling can be very tiring and often people just need time to themselves. We are available to assist and interact at your request.
